Aussie Ultra Pink Bubble Coral Colony
Add an unforgettable, pillow-soft architectural element to your tank with the Aussie Ultra Pink Bubble Coral (Plerogyra sinuosa). This exquisite, large polyp stony (LPS) coral is famous for its massive, grape-shaped water-filled vesicles that completely mask its underlying stony skeleton during the day. Unlike standard white or green variants, this ultra-grade Australian specimen features a subtle, glowing blend of creamy pastel peach, soft rose-pink, and lavender undertones, which inflate dramatically to capture light and sway gently in the current.
Why It Stands Out
  • Unique Textural Centerpiece: Provides a distinct, puffy visual texture that contrasts beautifully against branch-like or encrusting corals.
  • Fingerprint Detailing: Zooming in reveals intricate, delicate skeletal striations curving across each individual bubble, giving it a premium look.
  • Day-to-Night Transformation: By day, it is a soft cloud of bubbles; at night, it contracts to reveal a hidden network of long, highly active feeding tentacles.
Quick Care & Aquarium Parameters
Bubble corals are notoriously hardy and low maintenance once settled, making them an excellent choice for intermediate reefers. However, because their tissues fill heavily with water, they must be handled with extreme care to avoid tearing against their sharp internal skeleton.
  • Care Level: Moderate.
  • Lighting: Low to moderate (50–120 PAR). Too much direct light can cause the bubbles to shrink or bleach.
  • Water Flow: Low. A gentle, lazy indirect current is necessary. Fast or turbulent flow will prevent the bubbles from expanding and may tear its delicate flesh.
  • Placement: Low on the rockwork or nestled directly on the substrate bed. Give it a wide 5–6-inch perimeter, as it deploys long, powerful sweeper tentacles at night that will sting neighboring corals.
  • Water Chemistry: Standard stable parameters for stony corals.
    • Alkalinity: 8–9 dKH
    • Calcium: 400–440 ppm
    • Nitrates: 5–15 ppm | Phosphates: 0.03–0.08 ppm
  • Feeding: Photo-synthetic but responds heavily to spot-feeding. Offering small pieces of mysis shrimp, krill, or liquid LPS foods once a week accelerates growth and yields much larger bubble inflation.
