Bring a striking flash of color and elegant motion to your marine system. The Firefish Goby is a spectacular nano-safe species featuring a stark white front body that smoothly blends into a brilliant, fiery orange-red tail. Instantly recognizable by its dramatically elongated first dorsal spine, this peaceful fish spends its day hovering gracefully just above the rockwork, rhythmically flicking its banner-like fin to signal its presence.
Exceptionally hardy, disease-resistant, and completely peaceful, the Firefish is the absolute perfect addition for beginner hobbyists and advanced reef-keepers alike.

Key Features & Tank Requirements
🔒 Escape-Proof Lid Mandatory
Firefish are notorious high-velocity jumpers when startled by sudden shadows, loud noises, or tank mates. A tightly fitted mesh screen or glass lid with absolutely zero gaps around cords or filtration plumbing is strictly mandatory to ensure their safety.
🪨 Bolt-Hole Security Caves
A naturally timid species that requires a safe retreat to feel confident. Your aquascape must include small rock caves, tight crevices, or low overhangs where the Firefish can quickly dart headfirst and lock its dorsal spine in place when it feels threatened or goes to sleep.
🌊 Open Hovering Zones
Unlike bottom-dwelling gobies, Firefish prefer to hover a few inches above the sand or rockwork, facing into the water current. Provide a low-to-moderate water flow zone where they can effortlessly glide and search the water column for passing food.
🦐 Simple Planktonic Feeders
Extremely easy to feed and rarely picky. Their natural diet consists of drifting zooplankton, meaning they thrive on a varied diet of small, meaty frozen foods. Offer daily servings of vitamin-enriched mysis shrimp, brine shrimp, finely chopped seafood, and high-quality marine flakes or micro-pellets.
👥 Social Compatibility Planning
While completely harmless toward every other inhabitant, they can be highly aggressive toward their own species. Keep them strictly as a single individual, or as a true, verified mated pair. House them with peaceful tank mates like clownfish, royal grammas, small wrasses, and peaceful clean-up crews.
