Moon Wrasse (Thalassoma lunare)
Inject a lightning bolt of pure color and nonstop kinetic energy into your aquarium. The Moon Wrasse features a dazzling, electric green-and-blue body accented by striking magenta face markings and a glowing, crescent moon-shaped yellow tail fin. This hyper-active powerhouse never stops moving, constantly weaving through rockwork and patrolling open water from dawn until dusk.
While they are exceptionally hardy and simple to feed, their lightning-fast speed and bold personality make them an absolute thrill to keep—provided they are housed with equally robust tank mates.

Key Features & Tank Requirements
⚡ Nonstop High-Octane Motion
This fish has a blazing fast metabolism and literally never rests during lights-on hours. Because they require expansive rooms to sprint, a long, wide tank footprint is vastly superior to a tall, narrow one.
🪨 Intricate Rockwork Structures
Despite their open-water swimming habits, Moon Wrasses love diving into tight rock caves, tunnels, and crevices when hunting or playing. Ensure your aquascape has plenty of visual barriers to keep this intelligent hunter mentally stimulated.
🔒 Escape-Proof Lid Mandatory
Like all wrasses, the Moon Wrasse is an exceptional jumper that can easily launch itself out of an open aquarium when startled or chasing food. A completely sealed canopy or a tight-fitting mesh lid with zero gaps is absolutely mandatory.
🍖 Active Carnivore Diet
An opportunistic feeder with a massive appetite. They eagerly accept almost any meaty marine foods, including frozen mysis shrimp, krill, chopped squid, clams, and high-quality predator pellets. Because of their high energy levels, they should be fed at least twice a day.
👥 Aggressive Community Mates Only
As they mature, they become highly territorial and will easily bully peaceful or slow-moving fish. Do not house them with firefish, small wrasses, or pipefish. Instead, place them with aggressive titans like large tangs, triggerfish, large angels, groupers, and puffers.
