Sunburst Convict Chalice

The Sunburst Convict Chalice features a heavy, plating or encrusting body defined by high-contrast "convict" vertical striping. Its deep, rich base color is slashed with blistering bands of neon orange, fiery gold, and radioactive green, all centered around glowing, contrasting eyes.

As a premium Echinophyllia morph, this slow-growing masterpiece fluoresces intensely under actinic LED lighting, creating an absolute explosion of color on your lower reef structures.

Demands attention with its psychedelic, "sunburst" color matrix. Because its patterns twist and change as the colony plates outward, every single frag grows into a completely unique, one-of-a-kind living work of art.

Naturally adapted to deeper reef slopes or shaded overhangs. To protect its intense coloration and prevent bleaching, avoid blasting it with intense light. They look their absolute best and display maximum fluorescence under heavy blue/actinic LED spectrums.

Requires enough water flow to keep detritus from settling on its fleshy tissue, but strong, direct powerhead blasts will tear its skin against its sharp internal skeleton. Provide a gentle, wrapping, indirect current.

Do not underestimate its reach! Like most chalice corals, the Sunburst Convict deploys long, transparent, highly venomous sweeper tentacles at night to sting competing neighbors. Leave at least 3–4 inches of clearing space between this coral and any prized neighbors.

While it relies heavily on its symbiotic zooxanthellae for energy, target feeding it 1–2 times a week will dramatically increase its growth rate and color depth. Turn off your wavemakers and feed it micro-pellets, reef roids, or finely minced mysis shrimp after the aquarium lights go out.
