Inject a burst of pure, high-octane citrus color into your reef aquarium with the legendary OG Sunkist Bounce Mushroom. As a classic staple in the elite designer coral market, this high-end Rhodactis variant is famous for its breathtaking contrast. It showcases a rich, moody deep blue-and-green velvety base tissue overlaid by massive, hyper-inflated vesicles that glow with a brilliant, fluorescent neon-orange radiance. These vibrant "bounce" bubbles catch the tank currents and create a playful, eye-catching centerpiece under actinic blue and UV reef lighting.
Why It Stands Out
- Signature Citrus Glow: Boasts some of the brightest, most intensely saturated fluorescent orange bubbles available in the hobby.
- Proven Aquarium Pedigree: An iconic, time-tested old-school collector strain with excellent stability and long-term value.
- Dynamic Motion: The inflated vesicles literally bobble and sway beautifully in low tank currents, creating incredible visual texture.
Quick Care & Aquarium Parameters
The Sunkist Bounce is highly prized by collectors yet remarkably hardy and beginner-friendly. Lacking a rigid calcium skeleton, it easily adapts to various tank setups and easily tolerates minor water parameter fluctuations.
- Care Level: Easy.
- Lighting: Low to moderate (50–120 PAR). Heavy blue-spectrum lighting maximizes bubble inflation, while overly intense white light can cause it to flatten or bleach.
- Water Flow: Low to medium. Gentle, indirect current keeps the tissue fully expanded without irritating the coral or detaching its foot.
- Placement: Bottom or sand bed placement. Mount the frag plug or rubble to an isolated rock structure to provide plenty of space for massive expansion.
- Temperature: 76–78 °F.
- Salinity / SG: 1.024–1.026.
- Nutrients: Prefers slightly nutrient-rich, "not too clean" water. Elevated nutrients promote faster growth and richer colors (Nitrates: 5–20 ppm | Phosphates: 0.03–0.1 ppm).
- Feeding: Primarily photosynthetic, but highly responsive to target feeding. Weekly spot-feeding with fine particulate high-protein foods like Reef Roids or small meaty foods helps accelerate growth and maximize bubble size.
