Key Features & Tank Requirements
🐉 Show-Stopping Aesthetics
Features a striking, maze-like "leopard" or "honeycomb" coloration. No two specimens look exactly alike, making your eel completely unique.
🔒 Escape-Proof Lid Required
Morays are notorious escape artists with incredible upper-body strength. A heavily secured, locking, or weighted canopy is mandatory to keep this powerhouse inside the aquarium.
🪨 Heavy-Duty Aquascaping
Adults need large, stable rock caves or massive PVC pipe networks to hide in during the day. Ensure all rockwork is firmly secured directly to the tank glass, as these powerful animals can easily collapse unstable structures.
🥩 Carnivorous Diet
A true predator that relishes hefty portions of meaty seafood. Feed 2–3 times a week using frozen shrimp, squid, octopus, scallops, and fresh silversides. Due to their poor eyesight and lightning-fast strike response, always use long feeding tongs—never hand-feed!
👥 Tank Mate Caution
Because it grows massive and has a formidable bite, it will swallow any tank mate that fits in its mouth. Keep it solo in a dedicated species tank, or house it with other large, aggressive predators like adult triggerfish, groupers, large angelfish, or large puffers.
